Members
BOARD MEMBER RESPONSIBILITIES
Members of the governing body of this agency are primarily
responsible for establishing and developing policies through
which the goals of the organization can be accomplished. The
board is the ultimate authority in determining courses of
action presented to it by various committees charged with
specific activities of the corporation. The blending of talent
and expertise that each individual brings to the board are the
key ingredients that forge it into an effective working team.
Key Responsibility Area -- Policy Administration
Continue the legal or corporate existence of the Agency.
Ensure that it meets legal requirements for the conduct of the
organizational business and affairs. Be responsible for
ensuring that the agency operates within its bylaws. Adopt
policies which determine the purpose, governing principles,
functions and activities, and course of action of the agency.
Assume ultimate responsibility for internal policies which
govern the organization.
Key Responsibility Area -- Evaluation
Regularly evaluate and review agency operations and maintain
standards of performance. Monitor the activities of the
organization, including: reviewing reports of appropriate
committee; confirming, modifying, or rejecting proposal;
counseling and providing good judgment on plans of committees
or the executive; and considering, debating, and deciding
issues.
Key Responsibility Area -- Public And Community Relations
Give sponsorship and prestige to the agency and inspire
confidence in its program. Understand and interpret the work
of the organization to the community. Relate the services of
the agency to the work of other community organization and
focus on progress in the community as a whole.
Key Responsibility Area -- Personnel
Select employ, and evaluate the Executive Director. Approve
the policies which govern the administration of personnel.
Participate in recruitment, selection, and development of
other board and committee members.
Key Responsibility Area -- Finance
Approve and monitor the corporate finances of the agency.
Authorize and approve the annual audit.
